I don’t cook.
Let me repeat.
I. do. not. cook.
I decided a while back that I should at least TRY to learn. And if I was going to risk setting my kitchen on fire then I wanted to do it while making food that sounded appealing to me and what’s more appealing than food inspired by Star Trek?
Mmmmmm….Gagh…..
So I got out my Star Trek cookbook and thumbed through all of the recipes until I found some I thought I could pull off. I told a friend what I was doing and he suggested I film my attempts for posterity.
Uff da.
THEN I saw International House of Geek’s Thanksgiving post and the recipe for Lembas bread and decided to try recipes from several different franchises. Really, I just wanted to try the Lembas bread. I explored The Geeky Chef and between the Star Trek cookbook, IHOG and Geeky Chef, I found 5 recipes to try. One entree, one bread, and three beverages.
I showed the rough edit of the first video to a family member and her first reaction was: “It’s obvious you don’t know what you’re doing.”
It’s true. I don’t.
So feel free to laugh at my cluelessness in the kitchen.
Up first, my new favorite Holiday beverage: Butterbeer!
(From Harry Potter, in case you didn’t know)

And here’s how to make it:
Ingredients
1/4 cup unsweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup butterscotch topping
2 tablespoons whipped butter, room temperature
1 1/2 cups vanilla cream soda
Directions
Combine condensed milk, butterscotch topping, and butter in a glass heatproof measuring cup. Heat in microwave for 1 minute. Remove and stir until butter has melted and incorporated into mixture. Meanwhile heat cream soda in another heatproof measuring cup for 1 minute 30 seconds. Divide butterscotch mixture between 2 (10 to 12-ounce) mugs. Fill mugs with heated cream soda and stir thoroughly. Serve garnished with a cinnamon stick or an old-fashioned butterscotch candy stick.
Enjoy!

Seems easy, will see if i can find those ingredients so i could try it out.
You should! It’s sooooooo yummy. I’ve totally had a craving for it all morning since putting up the post.
You did good… BAS
Thanks Popi 🙂
Was that Star Wars music playing in the background…? I think so…
LOL, kind of sounds like it, doesn’t it? It’s actually from Harry Potter, the scene where they have Butterbeer for the first time.
Three words: “Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster”
YES! I’ll have to find a recipe for that! I’ve discovered that my only real talent in the kitchen is making beverages…preferably with alcohol…
You did well. Where was your trainee Chefs’ hat?
Haha, I don’t think that my cooking skills deserve a Chef’s hat, trainee or not LOL! But thanks 🙂
Ever since I saw Kait’s post Ive been wanting to try the butter beer! I actually tried making alcoholic butter beer of my own…it was pretty much the same thing only with large quantities of butterscotch scnapps &etc. :]
Also, thanks for the mention!
This recipe came from The Geeky Chef who got it from Sandra Lee on the Food Network. A friend mentioned adding ButterscotchSchnapps & bourbon which sounds like SUCH a fabulous idea! I added some vodka at the end which was pretty good but bourbon and schnapps would be way better. The more alcohol content the merrier lol 😉
You should definitely check out the blogs that I linked in the post. There were so many delicious things to make!
Will do! 🙂
Holy cow, is that your kitchen!!!! I am so jealous. Here is some nerd love! I tipped the bartender $20 in Vegas for this.
Warp Core Breach recipe from Quarks in Vegas
In a fish bowl with Ice combine
6 parts light rum (like biccardi)
2 parts dark rum (like myers)
4 parts biccardi limon (or similar)
2 parts spiced rum (like cpt morgans)
1 part bicardi 151 (optional)
2 parts razzmataz (or chambord, or other raspberry liquour)
fill the remainder with SOBE “Power” Energy drink
put in some dry ice
Excellent! Thanks Neil!! I tried a lot of drinks at Quarks in Vegas but not this one. I was under 21 most of the times I was there and had to get the virgin versions lol. I’m definitely trying this one!
And yeah, that’s my kitchen. I know, I’m totally undeserving of it! 20+ moves and this is the first time I’ve ever had a nice kitchen so I don’t plan on ever moving again lol.
aaaaaaaah, you’re so cute!!! glad you enjoyed the way it tasted, now i wanna try TT-TT
LOL awww thanks 🙂 Make it and tell me what you think! I’m borderline obsessed with it so I’m hoping that everyone loves it as much as I do 😉
It’s very good
I enjoyed visiting your website. I found the information there enjoyable. I watched the cooking videos also and I have to try the Butter Beer. (Do or do not do….there is no try).
