I\u2019m going to be blunt because, well, I\u2019m in one of those moods.<\/p>\n

CGI suit? errrr.....<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The new Green Lantern does not look promising.\u00a0 In fact, it looks terrible.\u00a0 Normally I would reserve judgment until a movie comes out but after seeing the trailer before Harry Potter, I\u2019ve pretty much seen the whole movie.\u00a0 Ryan Reynolds was not my first choice to play Deadpool in Wolverine Origins but, in the end, I thought he did ok.\u00a0 When I found out he\u2019d been cast as Green Lantern I was disappointed.\u00a0 Pick a comic book character and stick with it, don\u2019t be all jumping from franchise to franchise turning beloved characters into lame ass versions of yourself.\u00a0 I know you think you\u2019re riding some kind of pop culture wave and it\u2019s so cool and macho to play superheroes and I\u2019m sure all of your agents and managers are just thrilled to death at the prospect of sequels but COME ON.\u00a0 Have a little self respect.\u00a0 You\u2019re married to Scarlett Johansen for Christ\u2019s sake.<\/p>\n

(Chris Evans, you take note of this as well)<\/p>\n

Not only did the trailer suggest a complete rehashing of every comic book movie that has come out in the last 30 years (see Daniel O\u2019Brien\u2019s spot on article here: http:\/\/www.cracked.com\/blog\/why-new-green-lantern-movie-looks-so-familiar\/<\/a>) but someone got a little too excited about CGI.<\/p>\n

There is a reason why spandex was invented.<\/p>\n

\nNathan Fillion as the Green Lantern? Yes please.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Too make our incredibly hot superheroes and supervillians look even hotter.\u00a0 To give them freedom of movement while in battle.\u00a0 To be a form of identity so that villains and victims alike know exactly who\u2019s rescuing and\/or pummeling them with just a glance at the color of their tights.<\/p>\n

CGI is not to the point yet where it can replace spandex mmmmkay?<\/p>\n

Despite the rehashing (which, honestly, I can deal with to a certain degree) the one thing that bothers me most about the Green Lantern is the CGI costume.\u00a0 It is the fakest looking, most distracting part and sadly, it takes center stage during huge chunks of the movie.\u00a0 And this is the origin movie.\u00a0 When the quickly and poorly put together sequel inevitably comes out this ridiculous and garish costume will play an even larger role.<\/p>\n

*le sigh*<\/p>\n

I hope that when June 11th<\/sup> roles around I will be proved wrong and have to shove my foot in my mouth.\u00a0 But, somehow, I doubt I\u2019ll be tasting sock lint anytime soon.<\/p>\n

On another note, I was so NOT excited about the new Green Hornet movie and after seeing a trailer for it I\u2019m actually slightly enthusiastic.<\/p>\n
